Trixie Vico Cat Litter Tray Grey | 40cm x 40cm x 56cm

About Trixie Vico Hooded Cat Litter Tray

Many cats prefer a little privacy, and a covered tray keeps litter in the box and smells down in the room. Trixie Vico Hooded Cat Litter Tray is a covered litter box with a hood, sized 40 x 40 x 56cm, in dark grey & light grey.

The hood helps stop litter from being kicked out and gives shy cats a sheltered spot. A good-sized tray also gives larger cats room to turn and dig comfortably.

Trixie is a German pet accessories brand known for durable everyday products. The Vico is one of its covered litter trays.

A litter box only works if your cat likes using it, so placement, cleaning and the right litter matter as much as the box itself.

How Many Litter Trays?

A common rule from vets and cat behaviourists is one tray per cat plus one extra, in different places.

How It Works

• Avoiding the tray. If your cat stops using the tray, check it is clean, the litter has not changed and the spot is quiet. Peeing outside the box can also be a sign of a urinary problem, so see your vet.
• Straining. A cat straining in the tray with little or no urine needs a vet urgently, especially male cats.
• Changing litter. Mix new litter in slowly over a week. Sudden changes can put cats off.
• Older cats. Senior cats with stiff joints may prefer a tray with a low entry.

How to Use

• Placement. Put the tray in a quiet, easy-to-reach spot away from food and water bowls.
• Litter depth. Fill with about 5 to 7cm of litter.
• Scoop daily. Remove clumps and waste every day.
• Wash. Empty, wash with mild soap and water, dry and refill every 2 to 4 weeks.

Safety and Precautions

• Introduce slowly. Some cats need time to accept a hood. Leave the door flap open or the hood off at first.
• Avoid strong cleaners. Strong scents and bleach can put cats off the tray. Rinse well.
