About Wahl #40 Ultimate Blade
Clipper blades are numbered by cut length. The higher the number, the shorter the hair it leaves.
Sharp blades make grooming faster and kinder on the skin. Wahl Ultimate Competition Series #40 Blade is a detachable clipper blade that leaves about 0.25mm of hair. It is a surgical-length blade for the closest possible clip, used for surgical prep and very short work.
It is made from heavy-duty hardened steel and coated during manufacture to help protect against rust. It fits Wahl detachable clippers including the KM2, KM5, KM10 and KM Cordless, and select Oster and Andis clippers.

- Oil. Oil the blade before and during use.
- Clip clean coats. Bathe and dry the coat first. Dirt and sand dull blades quickly.
- Keep it cool. Long sessions heat the blade. Pause, use a blade coolant or swap to a second blade.
- Cleaning. Brush out hair after each groom, use a blade wash, then oil and store dry in its case.
- Sharpening. Blades dull with use. When the blade starts pulling hair, have it professionally sharpened or replace it.

- Heat. Blades heat up. Check often and swap or cool when warm.
- Very short blades. A #40 cuts very close and can cause clipper burn on sensitive skin. Use with care.
