| Doxycycline, 300mg | A tetracycline antibiotic used for tick fever, chest infections and other infections. |
Features and Benefits
- Tick fever treatment. One of the main medicines vets use for ehrlichiosis, a common tick-borne disease in India.
- Tablet form. Easy to store, and you can hide it in a small piece of food if your vet allows.
- Vet-guided. Your vet sets the dose and length of treatment for your dog.
How It Works
- Doxycycline. It stops bacteria from making the proteins they need to grow and multiply.
How to Use
- Dose. Give Doxypet 300 exactly as your vet prescribes. The dose depends on your dog's weight, age and condition.
- Giving a tablet. Place it at the back of the tongue, close the mouth gently and stroke the throat until your pet swallows. You can also hide it in a small piece of food if your vet says this is fine.
- Missed dose. Give it as soon as you remember, unless the next dose is nearly due. Never give two doses together.
- Finish the course. Keep giving it for as long as your vet says, even if your pet seems better, so the infection does not come back.
- Storage. Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, unless the pack gives other storage directions. Keep out of reach of children.
Safety and Precautions
- Stop and call your vet if your pet has vomiting, diarrhoea, a rash or swelling of the face.
- Do not use it if your pet has had a reaction to this type of antibiotic before.
- Give it with food and follow with water. Tablets that stick in the food pipe can cause irritation, especially in cats.
- Do not give it with milk, antacids, calcium or iron supplements at the same time, as they reduce absorption.
- This product is labelled for dogs. Do not use it on cats or other animals unless your vet says so.
- Tell your vet about any other medicines your dog takes, and if your dog is pregnant, nursing or has liver or kidney problems.
