About Enterogermina Suspension
Enterogermina is a probiotic from Sanofi. Each 5ml mini bottle holds 2 billion spores of Bacillus clausii, a friendly gut bacterium, in purified water.
Sanofi makes Enterogermina for people, to help restore gut flora upset by diarrhoea, antibiotics or illness. Vets also use human probiotics like this for dogs and cats, for example during a course of antibiotics or while a pet recovers from a stomach upset.
Bacillus clausii forms spores. Spores are tough, so they survive stomach acid and reach the intestine, where they become active and help crowd out harmful bacteria. The strains in Enterogermina are resistant to several antibiotics, which is why they can be given during antibiotic treatment.
Probiotics support the gut but do not treat the cause of diarrhoea. Diarrhoea that lasts more than a day, contains blood, or comes with vomiting or tiredness needs a vet.
Before you start, tell your vet about your animal's full medical history, any past drug reactions and every medicine or supplement you give. This helps your vet choose a safe dose and avoid interactions.

Features and Benefits
- 2 billion spores per bottle. A measured dose of Bacillus clausii in each single-use mini bottle.
- Survives stomach acid. Spores pass through the stomach and become active in the gut.
- Can be given with antibiotics. Sanofi directs it to be taken between one antibiotic dose and the next.
- Easy to give. A ready-to-use liquid that can be given directly or mixed with a little water.
- Single-use bottles. Each bottle is opened and used in one go, so the dose stays clean.
How It Works
- Bacillus clausii spores. The spores survive stomach acid, then grow in the intestine and help restore a healthy balance of gut bacteria.
- Antibiotic-resistant strains. The four strains resist several common antibiotics, so they keep working during antibiotic treatment.
- Bacillus clausii. Its spores survive stomach acid and grow in the gut, where they help crowd out harmful bacteria.
How to Use
- Dose for pets. Give the number of bottles your vet advises for your pet's size. Sanofi's leaflet gives doses for people, not animals.
- Giving it. Shake the bottle, open it and give the liquid by mouth, directly or mixed with a little water. Use it promptly once opened.
- With antibiotics. Give it in between antibiotic doses, not at the same time.
- Storage. Do not store above 30 degrees C. Keep out of reach of children.
- Keep a record. Note the date, time and dose of each treatment, and any changes you see. This helps your vet judge how well it is working.
- Follow-up. Book the follow-up check your vet recommends, even if things look better. Some problems need a recheck or test to confirm they have cleared.
Safety and Precautions
- For oral use only. Never inject it.
- Ask your vet before use in pets with a weak immune system or serious illness.
- Stop and see your vet straight away if your pet has facial swelling or breathing trouble.
- Small visible particles in the bottle are clusters of spores and are normal.
- Diarrhoea with blood, vomiting or tiredness needs a vet.
- Keep all medicines out of reach of children and other pets.
- See your vet straight away if your animal has a skin rash, facial swelling, breathing trouble, collapse or repeated vomiting after a dose.
