Evatocin INJ by Neon Laboratories Ltd. is a sterile, synthetic oxytocin injection containing 5 IU of oxytocin per mL, formulated to address one of the most clinically critical challenges in veterinary obstetrics and post-partum care: inadequate uterine contractility and impaired milk let-down in livestock and companion animals. Whether supporting the progression of labour in cattle, buffalo, sheep, goats, and sows, managing post-partum uterine complications, or facilitating milk ejection in lactating dams, Evatocin INJ delivers the precise oxytocic action required at the most decisive moments in an animal's reproductive cycle. As a Schedule H prescription-only parenteral medicine, it is intended for use under the strict supervision and direction of a qualified veterinarian. Animeal is proud to offer Evatocin INJ as part of its comprehensive range of veterinarian-trusted reproductive health solutions for livestock and companion animal care across India.
Ingredients:
Oxytocin (Synthetic) 5 IU per mL: Oxytocin (cyclo[1-6]-L-cystyl-L-tyrosyl-L-isoleucyl-L-glutaminyl-L-asparaginyl-L-cystyl-L-prolyl-L-leucyl-glycinamide) is a nonapeptide neurohypophysial hormone that is produced endogenously in the magnocellular neurosecretory cells of the hypothalamus and released via the posterior pituitary gland. In Evatocin INJ, the synthetic equivalent replicates the biological activity of endogenous oxytocin with high precision and purity. Upon intramuscular or intravenous administration, oxytocin binds to specific G-protein coupled oxytocin receptors (OTRs) on the smooth muscle cells of the uterine myometrium, triggering activation of phospholipase C, release of intracellular calcium, and ultimately the coordinated rhythmic contraction of uterine smooth muscle essential for the expulsion of the fetus and placenta during parturition. The density and sensitivity of myometrial OTRs increases dramatically during late gestation under oestrogen priming, which is why oxytocin's effect on the uterus is markedly stronger near and at term than during early pregnancy. In the mammary gland, oxytocin targets the myoepithelial cells surrounding the alveoli, stimulating their contraction to force milk from the alveolar ducts into the major ducts and cisterns a process referred to as milk let-down or the milk ejection reflex provided the udder is in a physiologically ready state. Synthetic oxytocin used in Evatocin INJ is produced by solid-phase peptide synthesis to pharmaceutical purity standards, ensuring consistent potency, absence of vasopressin-like pressor contamination, and reliable clinical performance in every vial.
Sodium Chloride (as Isotonic Carrier): Sodium chloride (NaCl) at physiological concentration (0.9% w/v) is used as the aqueous vehicle for the oxytocin solution, ensuring isotonicity with body fluids to prevent cellular damage or discomfort at the injection site and to maintain the solubility and stability of the oxytocin peptide in solution.
Chlorobutanol (as Preservative): Chlorobutanol (1,1,1-trichloro-2-methyl-2-propanol) at 0.5% w/v functions as a broad-spectrum antimicrobial preservative in the multi-dose vial formulation, maintaining sterility against bacterial and fungal contamination across the usage life of the opened vial without compromising the bioactivity of the oxytocin molecule.
