About Product
BOEHRINGER INGELHEIM FRONTLINE PLUS SPOT-ON FOR EXTRA LARGE DOGS (40KG–60KG) is a topical spot-on solution presented in a single 4.02ml pipette, specifically formulated for dogs weighing between 40kg and 60kg. Each pipette is precision-dosed for extra-large breeds making it ideal for dogs like German Shepherds, Labrador Retrievers, Rottweilers, Golden Retrievers, Great Danes, Saint Bernards, and other large to giant breeds. It is manufactured by Boehringer Ingelheim Animal Health the global pharmaceutical giant that acquired the legendary Merial Animal Health brand, the original creators of Frontline and is backed by over two decades of global clinical use and veterinary trust. FRONTLINE PLUS is a monthly, once-per-application topical treatment that delivers 30 days of continuous flea and tick protection from a single, simple application between the shoulder blades.
Ingredients:
- Fipronil 9.8% w/v (402 mg per pipette) Primary Active Ingredient (Insecticide and Acaricide): Fipronil is a broad-spectrum phenylpyrazole insecticide and acaricide one of the most widely used and extensively studied antiparasitic compounds in veterinary medicine globally. Its mechanism of action is highly targeted and neurologically specific: Fipronil works by blocking GABA-gated chloride channels and glutamate-gated chloride channels in the central nervous system of insects and arachnids. GABA (gamma-aminobutyric acid) is the primary inhibitory neurotransmitter in invertebrate nervous systems. By blocking these chloride channels, Fipronil prevents the normal flow of chloride ions across nerve cell membranes, causing uncontrolled, continuous nerve excitation leading to hyperexcitation, paralysis, and rapid death of the parasite. Critically, Fipronil's binding selectivity is vastly greater for invertebrate GABA receptors than for mammalian GABA receptors making it highly toxic to fleas, ticks, and lice while remaining safe at recommended doses in dogs. After application, Fipronil is rapidly absorbed into the lipid layer of the skin and the sebaceous (oil) glands of the hair follicles. From there, it continuously self-distributes across the entire body surface through the natural flow of skin oils achieving full-body coverage within 24 hours and maintaining therapeutic concentrations on the skin and coat for 30 days. Fipronil kills adult fleas within 24 hours and adult ticks within 24 to 48 hours of contact
- S-Methoprene 8.8% w/v (361.8 mg per pipette) Secondary Active Ingredient (Insect Growth Regulator / IGR): S-Methoprene is a highly specific Insect Growth Regulator (IGR) a synthetic analogue of the natural juvenile hormone (JH) found in insects. Juvenile hormone is critical in regulating insect development: in the presence of JH, an insect larva remains in its larval stage and cannot progress to the pupal or adult stage. S-Methoprene mimics this juvenile hormone, maintaining artificially elevated JH levels in flea eggs, larvae, and pupae exposed to it. As a result, flea eggs cannot hatch into larvae, larvae cannot moult into pupae, and pupae cannot develop into adult fleas the entire developmental pathway is disrupted and halted. S-Methoprene has absolutely no effect on ticks (which are arachnids, not insects) its role is exclusively targeted at breaking the flea life cycle. Since only 5% of a flea infestation exists on the pet (as adults) and 95% exists in the environment (as eggs, larvae, and pupae), the inclusion of S-Methoprene is what makes FRONTLINE PLUS decisively more effective than Fipronil alone at eliminating the total flea burden from both the pet and the household environment
- Butylhydroxytoluene (BHT/E321) 0.4 mg per pipette: a food-grade antioxidant used as a preservative to maintain the stability and potency of the active ingredients throughout the product's shelf life
- Butylhydroxyanisole (BHA/E320) 0.8 mg per pipette: a complementary food-grade antioxidant that works synergistically with BHT to prevent oxidative degradation of Fipronil and S-Methoprene
- Solvent base: a proprietary combination of isopropyl alcohol and excipients that keeps the active ingredients dissolved, ensures rapid skin penetration and smooth application, and facilitates rapid self-distribution across the coat

Kills adult fleas within 24 hours: Fipronil begins working on contact, killing 100% of adult fleas on your dog within 24 hours of application
Kills all major tick species within 24–48 hours: effective against Rhipicephalus sanguineus (Brown Dog Tick), Dermacentor spp., Ixodes spp. (including Ixodes ricinus), Amblyomma spp., and Haemaphysalis spp. the most clinically significant tick species affecting Indian dogs
Kills chewing lice: effective against Trichodectes canis (chewing louse in dogs) providing comprehensive ectoparasite coverage beyond just fleas and ticks
Breaks the complete flea life cycle: S-Methoprene destroys flea eggs and larvae on the pet and in the immediate environment, preventing the 95% of the flea population hiding in your home from developing into new adult fleas a single application provides 6 weeks of Insect Growth Regulation
30 days of continuous protection: one pipette applied once monthly provides a full month of flea and tick prevention with no need for daily treatment
Prevents Flea Allergy Dermatitis (FAD): by eliminating fleas before they can bite and inject allergenic saliva, FRONTLINE PLUS prevents the hypersensitivity reactions and skin inflammation associated with flea allergy dermatitis one of the most common and distressing skin conditions in dogs
Reduces tick-borne disease risk: by killing ticks within 24 to 48 hours, FRONTLINE PLUS significantly reduces the risk of tick-borne diseases including Babesiosis (Tick Fever), Ehrlichiosis, Anaplasmosis, and Lyme disease being transmitted to your dog
Self-distributing formula: after application, the active ingredients distribute themselves across the entire body surface through the dog's natural skin oils within 24 hours no spreading or rubbing required

How to Use:
Step 1 Remove the pipette: from its blister packaging.
Step 2 Snap open the tip: by twisting or breaking along the scored line at the top of the pipette.
Step 3 Part the fur: between your dog's shoulder blades, at the base of the neck, until the skin is clearly visible. This location is chosen specifically because dogs cannot easily reach it to lick.
Step 4 Apply the solution: by placing the tip of the pipette directly onto the exposed skin. Squeeze the pipette firmly to empty the entire contents directly onto the skin surface. For very large or giant dogs, apply the content in 2 to 3 spots along the midline of the back, starting from the base of the neck to reduce dripping.
Step 5 Allow to dry: do not touch the application site until fully dry. Keep pets separated after application until the treated area is dry, to prevent other pets from licking the area.
Frequency: Apply once every 30 days for continuous flea and tick protection. Do not apply more frequently than once monthly.
Important:
- Do not apply within 48 hours of bathing or swimming
- Avoid shampooing your dog for 48 hours after application
- Do not apply to broken, irritated, or infected skin
- Do not allow your dog to swim or be bathed within 48 hours of application
- Do not use simultaneously with other topical flea products
