UDCAK9-150 (Ursodeoxycholic Acid IP 150mg Film Coated Tablet) is a clinically advanced veterinary hepatoprotective tablet formulated to support, protect, and restore liver function in dogs and cats suffering from a range of inflammatory and cholestatic hepatobiliary diseases. Ursodeoxycholic Acid (UDCA) a naturally occurring, hydrophilic secondary bile acid works through multiple complementary mechanisms to correct abnormal bile acid composition, reduce hepatocellular inflammation, dissolve cholesterol-based gallstones, slow the progression of chronic liver disease, and protect liver cells from bile acid-induced cytotoxicity. UDCAK9-150 is indicated for use in dogs and cats diagnosed with Primary Biliary Cirrhosis (PBC), cholestatic liver disease, sclerosing cholangitis, gallstone disease, and various forms of hepatic dysfunction requiring ongoing hepatoprotective support. Available in a convenient strip of 15 film-coated tablets, UDCAK9-150 offers precise, weight-appropriate dosing for small to medium-sized dogs and cats under veterinary supervision. Animeal is proud to offer UDCAK9-150 as part of its carefully curated range of veterinary hepatology medicines, reaffirming our commitment to vet-grade, clinically dependable solutions for the liver health and overall wellbeing of your beloved companion animal.
Composition:
-
Ursodeoxycholic Acid IP 150mg: A naturally occurring hydrophilic bile acid and the primary active compound; exerts its hepatoprotective and cholerectic effects through five clinically established mechanisms
- (1) correction of bile acid pool composition by replacing toxic, hydrophobic bile acids with the cytoprotective UDCA molecule;
- (2) direct cytoprotection of hepatocyte and cholangiocyte membranes from bile acid-mediated cytotoxicity;
- (3) stimulation of hepatocellular and ductular bile secretion (choleresis), increasing bile flow and relieving cholestasis;
- (4) immunomodulation suppression of aberrant MHC Class I antigen expression on hepatocytes, reducing auto-immune mediated hepatic inflammation;
- (5) dissolution of cholesterol-rich gallstones by reducing biliary cholesterol saturation and promoting cholesterol solubilisation into mixed micelles.
- Film Coat (Excipients) q.s.: Pharmaceutical-grade hydroxypropyl methylcellulose-based film coat ensuring smooth, easy-to-swallow tablet surface, protection of the active ingredient from moisture and light degradation, and masking of any residual bitter taste improving compliance in both dogs and cats.
