About Product
Xylaxin Injection 30ml by Indian Immunologicals Limited (IIL) is a clinically proven, veterinarian-administered injectable pharmaceutical containing Xylazine Hydrochloride USP as its active principle, formulated to deliver reliable, dose-dependent sedation, analgesia, and skeletal muscle relaxation across a wide spectrum of animal species. Xylaxin addresses one of the most critical and recurring challenges in veterinary clinical practice: safely restraining, sedating, and preparing animals for clinical examination, minor surgical procedures, diagnostic imaging, orthopaedic interventions, and general anaesthesia, without causing undue physiological stress or harm to the animal. Its non-narcotic mechanism of action and well-established safety profile across decades of clinical use have made Xylaxin one of the most trusted and widely adopted veterinary sedatives in India, used across companion animals, livestock, equines, and select wildlife species. Animeal is proud to offer Xylaxin Injection 30ml as part of its curated range of prescription veterinary pharmaceuticals, available exclusively for use by or under the direct supervision of a registered veterinary practitioner.
Composition:
Xylazine Hydrochloride USP: 23.32 mg (equivalent to 20 mg of Xylazine base)
Excipients: Methylparaben, Propylparaben, Water for Injection; Citric acid and Sodium citrate for pH adjustment to 5.5 (+/- 0.3).
Features and Benefits
Reliable, Dose-Dependent Sedation Across Specie...
Reliable, Dose-Dependent Sedation Across Species: Xylaxin Injection delivers a predictable, titratable depth of sedation that veterinary practitioners can calibrate precisely to the clinical requirement, from mild tranquillisation for routine examination to deep sedation for surgical pre-anaesthesia. This dose-response reliability makes Xylaxin a versatile and trusted tool across the widest range of species and procedures in veterinary practice.
Safe and Fully Reversible with Specific Antidotes: One of the most clinically valuable attributes of Xylaxin is its full reversibility with established alpha-2 adrenergic antagonists including yohimbine hydrochloride, tolazoline, and atipamezole, allowing the veterinary practitioner to rapidly terminate sedation and restore the animal to consciousness when needed. This reversibility provides a significant safety advantage in clinical scenarios where prolonged sedation poses a physiological risk.
Effective Skeletal Muscle Relaxation for Stress-Free Handling: The centrally mediated muscle relaxant property of xylazine enables the safe and calm repositioning, examination, and surgical preparation of animals that would otherwise be impossible to handle safely. This benefits both the animal, by reducing the physiological stress response associated with forced restraint, and the attending practitioner, by providing a controlled and cooperative patient.
Broad-Spectrum Multi-Species Applicability: Xylaxin is one of the few injectable sedatives approved and clinically validated for use across companion animals, equines, large ruminants, camelids, and wildlife species, making it an indispensable single-vial solution for mixed-species veterinary practitioners, wildlife conservationists, and field veterinarians working across diverse animal populations.
Manufactured by India's Leading Veterinary Biologicals Company: Produced by Indian Immunologicals Limited, a WHO cGMP-certified, ISO 9001-compliant, NDDB-established pharmaceutical manufacturer with over four decades of uncompromised quality in veterinary and human biopharmaceutical production, Xylaxin carries the assurance of the highest manufacturing standards at every level of production.
Usage and Applications
How to Use:Xylaxin Injection 30ml must be admin...
How to Use:
Xylaxin Injection 30ml must be administered exclusively by a registered veterinary practitioner or under the direct supervision of a qualified veterinary professional. It is not to be self-administered or dispensed without a valid veterinary prescription. The preferred route of administration is intramuscular in most species. In horses, the preferred and recommended route is slow intravenous injection to minimise the risk of adverse cardiovascular effects. In dogs, intramuscular, subcutaneous, or intravenous administration may be employed depending on the clinical context and the degree of sedation required. In cats, intramuscular or subcutaneous administration is preferred. The dose volume and route must be calculated and determined by the attending veterinarian based on the species, body weight, health status, and intended clinical purpose of the procedure. Following administration, the animal should be kept in a quiet, calm environment and allowed to achieve the full depth of sedation undisturbed, as stimulation during the onset phase may result in unexpected movement or reactivity. Animals should not be left unmonitored during the period of sedation. If reversal is required, the specific antidote should be administered as directed by the veterinarian. Fasting of 6 to 24 hours prior to administration is advisable in dogs and cats where possible, to reduce the incidence of vomiting. For large animals and cattle, position the head to avoid regurgitation and aspiration risk. Do not administer to animals in advanced stages of pregnancy.
Storage Advice:
Store unopened Xylaxin Injection 30ml in a cool, dark, and dry place below 25 degrees Celsius, away from direct sunlight and sources of heat or humidity. Do not freeze. Once opened, the multi-dose vial should be kept sealed with its rubber stopper intact between uses, stored under refrigeration, and used within the recommended period as specified on the label. Handle all vials with appropriate aseptic technique to prevent contamination. Do not use after the best-before date printed on the vial label. Keep out of the reach of children. This product must be stored securely in a clinical or veterinary facility and must not be accessible to unauthorised individuals.

Disclaimer:
Please note that Xylaxin Injection 30ml contains Xylazine Hydrochloride USP 20 mg/ml and is a prescription-only veterinary pharmaceutical. It may only be administered by or under the direct order and supervision of a licensed, registered veterinary practitioner. This product is not available for retail sale without a valid veterinary prescription and must not be self-administered under any circumstances. Xylaxin is not recommended for use in animals in the last trimester of pregnancy, as it may induce premature labour or fetal sedation. It should be used with extreme caution in animals with pre-existing cardiovascular disease, respiratory compromise, hepatic or renal impairment, severe debilitation, hypotension, or a history of seizure disorders. Xylazine is known to interact with epinephrine, barbiturates, certain narcotics, acepromazine, and prochlorperazine; the attending veterinarian must review concurrent medications before administration. For all animals receiving Xylaxin, appropriate resuscitative equipment, monitoring capability, and the relevant reversal agents including yohimbine hydrochloride, tolazoline, or atipamezole must be available at the point of administration. Animeal supports your pet's health and happiness journey but does not replace the advice of a qualified veterinary professional.
