About Clavam Dry Syrup

Bacterial infections of the skin, ears, gut, urinary tract or chest can make a pet feel unwell, and they need the right antibiotic to clear.

Clavam Dry Syrup is a human dry syrup from Alkem that contains amoxicillin and clavulanic acid. Amoxicillin is a penicillin type antibiotic. Clavulanic acid protects amoxicillin from enzymes that resistant bacteria make.

How It Works

• Amoxicillin. It stops bacteria from building their cell walls, so they burst and die.
• Clavulanic acid. It blocks the beta-lactamase enzymes some bacteria use to destroy penicillins.

How to Use

• Dose. Give Clavam Dry Syrup exactly as your vet prescribes. The dose depends on your pet's weight, age and condition.
• Mixing and measuring. Add boiled and cooled water up to the mark on the bottle and shake well. Measure each dose with a dosing syringe and shake before every dose.
• Missed dose. Give it as soon as you remember, unless the next dose is nearly due. Never give two doses together.
• Finish the course. Keep giving it for as long as your vet says, even if your pet seems better, so the infection does not come back.
• Storage. Once mixed, keep it as the pack directs and throw away any left over after the number of days printed on the pack. Keep out of reach of children.

Safety and Precautions

• Stop and call your vet if your pet has vomiting, diarrhoea, a rash or swelling of the face.
• Do not use it if your pet has had a reaction to this type of antibiotic before.
• Do not use it in pets allergic to penicillin.
• Tell your vet about any other medicines your pet takes, and if your pet is pregnant, nursing or has liver or kidney problems.
