About Vivaldis Viv Keto Forte Shampoo
Does your pet have flaky, greasy or smelly skin, scaly patches or itchy red areas that have not settled with ordinary shampoos? Your vet may suspect a yeast, fungal or bacterial skin infection, and these usually need a medicated wash.
Vivaldis Viv Keto Forte Shampoo is a medicated shampoo for dogs and cats with three active ingredients. Ketoconazole is an antifungal that acts on yeast and fungi. Chlorhexidine gluconate is an antiseptic that acts on bacteria. Cetrimide is an antiseptic cleansing agent that helps lift grease and scale from the skin.
This mix makes it a common choice when a vet sees signs of both yeast and bacteria, such as in Malassezia dermatitis, ringworm, superficial pyoderma or greasy, scaly skin (seborrhoea). It is often used with other treatment that your vet prescribes.
It comes in a 200ml bottle and is made in India by Vivaldis.

Active Ingredients
| Ingredient | What it does |
|---|---|
| Ketoconazole | An antifungal. It acts on yeast such as Malassezia and on the fungi that cause ringworm. |
| Chlorhexidine gluconate | An antiseptic. It acts on many of the bacteria that cause skin infections and odour. |
| Cetrimide | An antiseptic and cleansing agent. It helps remove grease, scale and debris so the other actives can reach the skin. |
Features and Benefits
- Three actives. Ketoconazole, chlorhexidine and cetrimide cover fungal, bacterial and cleansing needs in one shampoo.
- For yeast and ringworm. Ketoconazole is a well known antifungal used for yeast dermatitis and ringworm in pets.
- For bacterial skin infection. Chlorhexidine helps reduce bacteria in conditions such as superficial pyoderma and hot spots.
- Cuts through greasy skin. Cetrimide helps lift oil and scale, which is useful in greasy, flaky skin.
- Dogs and cats. Vivaldis makes this shampoo for use in dogs and cats under vet guidance.
- Made in India. Made by Vivaldis, a veterinary company based in Pune.
How It Works
- Antifungal. Ketoconazole blocks a substance that yeast and fungi need to build their cell membranes, so they stop growing.
- Antiseptic. Chlorhexidine and cetrimide damage the outer layer of bacteria and reduce the germ load on the skin.
- Time on the skin. The lather must stay on the skin for a set time before rinsing. That contact time is what lets the actives work.
How to Use
- Prepare. Brush out loose hair. Wear gloves if ringworm is suspected, as it can pass to people.
- Wet and apply. Wet the coat fully with lukewarm water. Apply the shampoo and work it into a lather right down to the skin, focusing on the affected areas.
- Contact time. Leave the lather on for the time your vet advises before rinsing. Keep your pet from licking it during this time.
- Rinse and dry. Rinse thoroughly with clean water and dry well, especially in skin folds, between the toes and under the collar.
- Treatment course. Repeat the baths on the schedule your vet sets. Finish the full course even if the skin improves early.
Safety and Precautions
- External use only. Do not let your pet drink or lick the shampoo. Rinse it off fully after the contact time.
- Eyes, ears and mouth. Keep the lather away from the eyes, inside the ears and the mouth. If it gets in the eyes, rinse with plenty of clean water.
- Reactions. Stop using it and call your vet if the skin becomes red, more itchy, or develops new sores after a bath.
- Know the cause first. Fungal and bacterial skin problems can look like allergies, mites or hormone problems. Use this shampoo after your vet has looked at the skin, not as a guess.
- Storage. Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, with the cap closed. Keep out of reach of children.
